Celebrating one year of POWAN! 🎉🎉🎉
POWAN Initiative was founded on June 11th last year in hope of helping students get academic support during the pandemic and beyond. Initially POWAN started as a solo tutoring venture and has now grown to 70 volunteers, helping over 73 students in the US, Philippines, and India! Not only do we tutor, but we also have been able to expand and offer mentoring, college app assistance, educational webinars, and are currently working on free programming bootcamps as well!
This June we celebrate a successful year as an organization. Thank you all for being an essential part of POWAN’s success.

When I first started this, I did not imagine how much our organization would grow. We will continue to volunteer and serve our communities. We have exciting changes happening for the 2021-2022 school year. I hope you all decide to join us in his next chapter of POWAN. Best of luck with everything you guys do! We want to thank our admin team for handling all the logistics behind the scenes. A BIG thank you to all our tutors as well! With our dedicated tutors, we are one step closer to achieving equitable education globally.
Our next steps include some new exciting projects. Specifically, we are working on summer coding bootcamps to introduce our tutees to programming languages like Python, C++, and Java. Also our new website will have new features to make the tutor/tutee experience more enjoyable and will automate the tutor-tutee connection process. More details to come!
